MIDSHIPMEN: Due to summer cruise requirements, ÉCOLE FRANCE-LANGUE, PARIS is the only option available to Midshipmen and is available during FIRST BLOCK and possibly SECOND BLOCK.

France Langue, Paris.  École Internationale de Langue et de Civilisation Françaises. Courses in language and civilization at all levels, with practice in speaking and writing. Upon your arrival, you will be given a placement exam.

GRADUATES:  The following programs are available to all graduates:

Housing in Paris Homestay with families only
Duration 4 weeks

Internship, U.S. Defense Attaché Office, Paris:  Work in the American Embassy, using French on a daily basis.  Duties include organizing ship visits, ceremonies, VIP visits, and drafting intelligence reports.

Eligibility Recent graduates only.
Must have secret clearance.
Duration 1 month TAD at Embassy.
REQUIREMENT: 1 month France Langue prior to TAD assignment.

6-week French Language Program in Rabat, Morocco

Six-week program at the Institute for Language and Communication Studies, Rabat, Morocco. Dates: 28 May-9 July. Daily intensive French language courses in grammar, conversation, composition, as well as courses in Moroccan Francophone literature and Moroccan civilization. Housing in university residences, group field trips to museums and monuments, excursions to Marrakesh, Fez, Meknes, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, Casablanca, Tangier and Tetouan, and a five-day trip to the Sahara.


Humanitarian Assistance Internship in Rabat, Morocco

The intern will serve as Humanitarian Assistance/Administrative assistant to LTC Antonio Banchs, U.S. Army, Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation, Morocco. Duties will include learning, inputting and updating humanitarian assistance projects in the Ohasis (humanitarian assistance) computer database, completing humanitarian assistance after-action reports, updating HA project folders, photos, and ODC continuity database. Opportunity for travel within Morocco and use of French skills in completing project proposals or conducting a final assessment of work completed.
