Naval Academy Exchange and Group Study Tour: One faculty escort and ten to fifteen midshipmen or newly commissioned officer participants. A visit to the German Naval Academy in Flensburg and a tour through Germany. Meetings with political, military, and economic leadership of Germany. Included is a visit to the Fleet Command, Naval Air Arm, a submarine shipyard, an Army Air Mechanized Brigade, and one of the Volkswagen Factories. Cultural visits in the cities of Flensburg, Hamburg, Rostock, Berlin, and Kassel. Interesting introduction to Germany’s military, political, economic, and cultural institutions.

German Programs
Goethe-Institut: Standard four week course: Conducted at 17 locations in Germany. Intensive courses in German language and civilization. Instruction in small groups organized by level of ability. Courses meet approximately five hours per day. At the end of the course students receive an internationally recognized "certificate" for passing one of the Goethe-Institut exams.
Naval Intelligence Internship in Berlin: Work for up to five weeks for your embassy at the Naval Intelligence Cell in Potsdam, close to Berlin. Use German on a daily basis at the Defense Management Coordination Activity. Affords valuable, practical experience in using German as a professional naval officer. Due to housing limitations, a limit of two participants at any one time applies. Security status necessary, and you must be nearly fluent in German.
